Meiling Zhao is a fifth-year doctoral student from the Dhaliwal-Reidy School of Accountancy at the University of Arizona, and expects to graduate in 2022. She received a BBA in Accounting from Beijing Forestry University and an MS in Accountancy from Syracuse University. Meiling’s primary research interests include audit quality, audit partners, information intermediaries, and voluntary disclosure. Her dissertation investigates whether capital market participants provide credible and timely signals of systematic audit quality using a sample of manually-collected activist short-seller investigation reports. She has taught courses in financial and managerial accounting and worked as a teaching assistant for graduate-level auditing courses. Outside of work, Meiling enjoys watercolor painting, practicing yoga, and spending time with her family and friends.
