Jake Marshall

Eller MBA Ambassador

Full-Time MBA

BS in Psychology, The University of Utah

BS in Nursing, Creighton University

I was born and raised in northern Utah. Following my undergraduate time at the University of Utah, I started a career as an Explosives Ordnance Disposal technician with the U.S. Navy. I spent six years on a Special Operations bomb squad, and got to travel all over the world.

I worked with the Secret Service on numerous occasions providing bomb squad support for then-President Obama, then-Vice President Biden, various foreign Heads-of-State, and even Pope Francis. During my service I was able to learn and hone my personal leadership style, and completed two overseas deployments, including one to a combat zone.

Following my military service, I returned to school to earn a nursing degree and began working in healthcare. I worked as an ICU nurse through the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic until beginning the full-time MBA program at Eller. While I enjoyed working as a nurse, it wasn’t a passion of mine. Completing a full-time MBA program is helping me build my business acumen and allowing me to focus more on my interests and aspirations.

Tucson and the full-time MBA program have been a wonderful experience. Flexibility with electives and concentrations, as well the low faculty-to-student ratio really makes it possible to tailor an MBA to fit my professional goals. The faculty are very supportive in helping students explore new ideas and passions.

Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. I’m looking forward to helping you learn more about this MBA program and the Eller Way!
